The time has come for my monthly portfolio update. At the end of every month, I will update my portfolio and comment on any changes. I do that for accountability and also so you may glean some ideas on how I allocate my capital. You have the opportunity to learn from what I do well, so you can do the same, as well as what I do poorly, so you will not have to repeat my mistakes.

Purchases
This month, I initiated new position in SAM and added to my positions in AZO, GILD, AN, MAT, TGT, and ESRX near 52-week low. The rest of my purchases are part of my monthly investment plans and DRIP.
Sales
The cash buyout of JOY completed, netting me $3,848.80 gross proceeds ($28.30 per share) for a cost basis of $1,705.04, a gain of $2,143.76, or 125.73% over a little over a year, not bad.

During April, my net worth increased 3.18% to $973,313.68, due to investment gains (2.22%) and net cash inflows (0.95%). My net worth is now just 2.74% away from the $1 mil milestone.

I was trailing the S&P 500 by half a percentage point during the first 3 months of the year, but April proved to be a good month for me against the index and I am now ahead by 0.71% YTD.

Purchases
This month, I initiated new position in SAM and added to my positions in AZO, GILD, AN, MAT, TGT, and ESRX near 52-week low. The rest of my purchases are part of my monthly investment plans and DRIP.
Sales
The cash buyout of JOY completed, netting me $3,848.80 gross proceeds ($28.30 per share) for a cost basis of $1,705.04, a gain of $2,143.76, or 125.73% over a little over a year, not bad.

During April, my net worth increased 3.18% to $973,313.68, due to investment gains (2.22%) and net cash inflows (0.95%). My net worth is now just 2.74% away from the $1 mil milestone.

I was trailing the S&P 500 by half a percentage point during the first 3 months of the year, but April proved to be a good month for me against the index and I am now ahead by 0.71% YTD.
Excellent update. You're so close to $1M in net worth. One or two more good market months and you'll be a millionaire on paper. ;-)
